EIS 25 event in Glasgow

In November Create directors Cliff Walton and Tony Woods attended the 2025 Energy Innovation Summit in Glasgow. This is the only event of its kind, bringing together energy system innovators and decision makers from across the country, providing the UK’s flagship knowledge dissemination event for the electricity and gas energy network operators.

Since March 2024 Create has been working with National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) on the HV Pinpoint project. This aims to develop a non-invasive methodology for the detection and precise location of infrequent pre-fault “events” occurring on HV underground networks before supply interruption. It provides a new solution to easily retrofit sensors on to existing underground cables at switchgear for accurate event detection and location without reliance on test van methods.

The display, together with the slide set showing on the screen above it, attracted much attention and discussion. This provided the opportunity to outline other aspects of the overall project including the novel street level technologies presently in development.
